(MSN Encarta) The hottest new buzzwords to be added to your bingo card are the following:

  • Offline -- You talk to someone offline when it's in person or on the phone, instead of in e-mail or an instant message; however, this term has surfaced in large meetings when some sensitive or long-winded topic comes up. Invariably, someone will say, "Let's take this offline." That means you'll talk about it one-on-one after the meeting.
  • Ping or Pinging -- "Ping" is the sound of an instant message or an incoming e-mail. It's used to get someone's attention. An associate might ask you to "ping" her later with needed information.
  • Deep Dive -- Commonly used in research or consulting, a "deep dive" is a request for more in-depth information. The phrase "drill down" can also be used in a similar context.
  • Bandwidth -- In the business world, this refers to an employee's available time to complete a task. "I don't have the bandwidth to handle the Johnson account along with my other work."
