If you said yes, you are not alone! One-third of workers say they have become very sleepy at work or actually fallen asleep on the job in the past 30 days, according to the National Sleep Foundation's annual "Sleep in America" poll. The problem is so rampant that some companies have given in and now offer employees a nap room. Why? We need at least seven to nine hours of sleep a night for optimal health. And we're not getting even close to that. On average, we sleep six hours and 40 minutes a night and work nine hours and 28 minutes a day. The Sleep Foundation estimates that tired workers cost companies $100 million annually in lost productivity, increased health care costs and absenteeism.
